What an adventure!
Reception have started our Around the World topic with a fabulous two weeks in Italy. We have learnt about famous Italian artists, the fantastic cuisine and taught ourselves to waltz for our Venetian Ball.
We started our trip with an exciting aeroplane journey. We handed in our passports at Passport Control and took our seats ready to start exploring.
When we arrived in Italy, we travelled straight to the Leaning Tower of Pisa which inspired our fantastic models below.
Of course we couldn’t have a trip to Italy without making one of their most famous dishes: a pizza! We can’t decide if we had more fun making them or eating them but they went down a treat and they were extremely scrumptious! We devoured them with glee.
We were soon on the move again. This time we found out an interesting fact about one of our favourite cartoons The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; did you know they are all named after famous Italian artists?
We learned about Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello and we painted our own pictures. It was also a fun opportunity to try and imitate Michelangelo who spent 4 years painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel! Our arms were aching after 10 minutes!
We finished our trip to Italy with a quick tour through Venice and celebrated our fantastic fortnight with a Venetian Ball. We learned how to waltz and put our new skills to good use dancing to Andre Rieu. We looked spectacular in our masks which we made as part of our homework project so we must say a massive THANK YOU to all our grown-ups at home who helped create these masterpieces!
Finally, we jumped back on the plane (although we did experience some techinical difficulties and delays) and travelled back to Jarrow just in time for the weekend.
We can’t wait to see where we fly to next.
