Year 1 have started a brand new topic this term. Can you guess what it might be? Our new reading corner may give you a little clue…
Year 1 have produced some fantastic toys as part of their family homework project! Well done to everyone who got involved, we had a great afternoon playing with them.
Year 1 have spent the past few weeks studying the artist Andy Warhol. Last week, we created a fact file about his life and looked at a few of his famous designs. This week, we used our toy topic to create our own screen prints in the style of Andy Warhol. They all looked fantastic!
Last week, Year 1 produced some fantastic instructions. We used imperative (bossy) verbs, conjunctions and pictures to create our own instructions. Here are a few examples!
Yesterday, Year 1 had a Teddy Bears’ Picnic in class! We made jam sandwiches with our teddies and listened to some funky music. We had a fantastic morning and feel ready to write our super instructions this week!

Year 1 had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day. We designed our own tokens, bookmarks and character selfies. Year 1 looked at lots of different book covers and even got to design their own book cover. We looked at lots of interesting books and had an amazing day!

Year 1 had a super morning at the Urban Factory in Hebburn. We took part in cheerleading, gymnastics and free running! They had a fantastic time and enjoyed using all the amazing equipment the Urban Factory had to offer.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the grown-ups that attended the Maths Café on Monday 8th October. It was very heart-warming to see all of you there to support your children. We hope you got a good insight into what your children are learning and how we teach maths at Dunn Street. Thanks again!
