Welcome to 2022 Year 5!

We have a super term planned, with lots of exciting books to study in English (including Clockwork by Philip Pullman); a new Geography topic all about South America and the Amazon Basin, and a new World History topic where we will be discovering all about the Maya.

To help keep us organised this half term, please find attached a daily timetable. Our PE continues to be on a Monday and Wednesday, so please can all pupils have their PE kits in on these days to ensure they can fully participate in the planned activities. Next half term we will be starting swimming on a Friday: pupils will need suitable swimwear and a swimming cap for these lessons.

Homework and Reading Records

As with last term, homework will be sent out on a Friday, and due the following Wednesday. Homework club is on every Tuesday lunchtime, so if pupils are struggling to get their work done at home (or need a little extra help), time is available in school for this.

Reading records should be in every day, so that staff can read with pupils every week. Pupils should aim to read at least three times a week at home to help support their progress in school.

Passwords for Reading Plus and Lexia were sent home before Christmas. Pupils are encouraged to log on at home for half an hour a week to support their work in school.

If you have any questions or would like to get in touch, please contact the school office or email me at [email protected]

Many thanks,

Mrs Giles-Brewster and Mrs Hird
